Unlike many other hair straighteners before them, the plates actually contain crushed tourmaline crystals! (see technology page for more info).

Tourmaline is a natural semi-precious gem that, when heated, emits the most negative ions of any known material. High levels of infrared energy are also released; the result is an unparalleled silky smooth finish.The wider plates on this model are perfect for straightening larger sections of long unruly hair and new for 2010 we have increased the maximum temperature to 220° C. Unlike previous models we are now able to offer advanced "ceramic heater" technology. Ceramic heaters are used by many MORE EXPENSIVE brands such as GHD and T3 but SCP hair straighteners are a fraction of the cost.
